As a young boy, I wanted to be a cowboy in the worse way, and I loved art. Art allowed me to have an expressive outlet, vicariously be a cowboy and to distinguish myself from the other kids in school, which at the time was very important. Being known by the other school kids as the “kid who could draw a horse,” helped my self-esteem tremendously. Among other things, in the 2nd grade, I created my “Rocking JB” logo based on old-west cattle brands. I have faithfully signed all my art pieces with my “brand” ever since creating it. Being a good son, I followed my parents’ advice, pursued a professional career and got a “real job” apart from art. Then, in 2005, I returned to art, specifically watercolor paintings, following my divorce. Rediscovering art as an adult filled my heart with renewed passion, meaning and purpose, and I have been doing it ever since. I can’t imagine living my life away from my art. Now, in addition to my watercolor paintings and the children’s books that I write and illustrate, I am pursing how to meaningfully create and market the new digital art, Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT’s). I am eager to discover new frontiers in this new medium alongside my traditional art. I hope you enjoy my art and find my instructional videos helpful and inspiring!
